PC - Based Systems
Manual Systems
Only available on the computer where the software is installed.
(visitor and attendee books) – people write illegibly, books get lost.
Only supports one location or event.
Non-existent with manual systems.
Each PC needs to have the software installed – meaning more licenses and costs.
Not realistic to use large scale manual systems.
PC (client) based systems are not easily shared with other users without complex networking systems.
Hard-copy systems are cumbersome and can not be accessed by other people.
Other systems only cater for one ‘category’ of person (staff or visitors but not both). Real-time occupant counts not available.
Simply don’t exist.
The occupant count information and key safety information is held on the PC or server inside the location that was evacuated.
There are no manual systems that cater for staff, visitors, and contractors, that can be accessed after an evacuation or emergency without compromising the health and safety of your people.
Relatively high upfront costs for software, training and installation.
Total cost is high given lack of real benefits or value with manual systems.
Upgrades require software downloads, patches, IT Support, and may not align with your latest operating system or hardware.
